Christmas Miracles

We had a great Christmas. All the big girls wanted was (of course) a wii. We were lucky enough to get our hands on one very early in the season and had a great time convincing the girls that even if there were a Santa, they would still be disappointed Christmas morning. I told them that I had stood in lines at very early hours in the morning and walked away disappointed with all of the other shoppers. We informed them that they had to act excited about Christmas anyway and not ruin the morning for the little girls. That was so much fun! Christmas morning it was wrapped and stuck in the very corner of the room behind our tree. Santa doesn't wrap the "big" presents at our house and I think the girls expected to walk into the room and see a wii right off the bat. Lauren was almost in tears! They just kept saying "There's got to be a wii here somewhere!" and they would open a DVD that they thought would be a wii game. Then we gave them one of the games and they were so excited until we told them that it was to take to their friends' house to play (their wii had been shipped to us to keep the secret.) Toward the end of the opening we finally took it out and handed it to them. After that, nothing else mattered. So fun! At least they won't soon forget! The little girls had a great time too. Of course, they were so excited with each present and just happy that they didn't have to wait any longer to open them!

We made a couple of trips to Atlanta to see Mark's family. He had a nephew return from his mission the weekend before Christmas and another one leave right after. We wanted to be home for Christmas Day, so we came home for a few days in between all of the family happenings. We had a great time visiting with everyone, but there's nothing like being home for Christmas. We went to a movie on Christmas Day and then out for a Chinese Christmas dinner buffet. Did you know that they are about the only ones open on Christmas?! That was my Christmas present to myself--I didn't have to cook or clean! So nice!
